When a Vagas performer decides that he wants to testify agains’t the mafia it turns out a lot of people want him dead, wouldn’t you know it? A conversation is heard and a hit is placed on Buddy Israel’s head of one million dollars, well it attracts the attention of the worlds best hitmen (and women) and puts his life in extreme danger, with the FBI getting involved and more plot twists we see a story unravel before our very eyes, quite an unbelievable one at that.

I really enjoyed this film. It has a good mixture of comedy, action, thrill and a great story that kept me excited until the very end. I saw this in the cinema when it first came out, and I was amazed that I hadn’t heard anything online about it from anyone else, but then I remembered that I hadn’t been online too much at that time, people had been talking, just I hadn’t been there to read it.

I remember coming out of the cinema and one of my friends being confused with some of the story, now this isn’t hard to do as the actual story behind it isn’t concentrated on in the film, until the very last scene when it all fits into place, now it can be confusing for some to get so much information and piece it together with the rest of the story all at once, but just thinking about it for a minute usually works, my friend understood once we explained it to them once more. Even without the main story this film is a great action flick, I think it needs to be recognised.

Now I bought it on DVD and I still find it an exciting film to watch. I have to watch the extras on the DVD soon, i’m sure they will be good. I’d recomend this film to anyone who can get their hands on a copy. If you like a good action film then this will keep your attention till the very end.

Stardust PosterThe story is that a man goes into a magical land to retrieve a fallen star (which is a person) but he then finds that he is not the only one who seeks the star, and has to keep her safe. He runs into many challenges along the way (including a cross-dressing sky pirate played by Robert De Niro who I think must have really needed the money to play this role) and his quest changes as he finds himself falling in love with the star.

I thought the movie was a very high budget film which concentrated too much on the special effects than the story itself. Although most other people I know thought it was an amazing story too. I say it was a very high budget film because they have so many great actors (who wouldn’t have come cheap at all), and so much cgi and special effects that would have come to a hell of a lot as well. The story seemed like a bunch of fairytales jumbled together, but it was interesting never the less.

I was surprised that the film ended as it did, it left no open ending for a sequel, which is quite strange for a film of this manor. Other than the surprise the ending was quite pleasant.

rating starThe film follows a 35 year old games prgrammer, who seems to be really good at his job, just hasn’t got very far in life yet.

After his roommate spends all their rent money on Filipino hookers he gets thrown out of his house and has to find a new place to stay. After an incident with his best friends mum he ends up living with his grandma and her two strange roommates but to sound “cool” to his younger co-workers he pretends that he is staying with ‘three hot babes’. In the end his boss steals the game he is making (but has told no one about apart from his grandma) and tries to pass it off as his own. Thats the basic plot of the movie.

There is quite a lot of drug taking, nakedness and just plain weirdness in this film. For example there is a monkey which knows karate. I think I have said enough about that now. I will say that the film kept me laughing for a good portion of it.
I would recomend this film to anyone who likes a good comedy, if your a “geek” then you might like it even more.

hitcher pictureThe Plot is as thin as any other horror like this. This is one reason why I don’t like horror films, another is that I jump easily. So in this film two college kids go on a road trip during spring break to Mexico and on the way pick up a hitch-hiker (Sean Bean) at a gas station who ends up being a psychopathic killer, blah blah things happen and they end up running from both the psychopath and the police.

As far as horror films go, it was pretty good. It kept me watching at least, which is a good sign for me witha horror film. Sean Bean didn’t suit playing that role though, for a start he comes from here in the UK, and he can’t do a great American accent. But I have to say he did a good job of the role, i’m just used to him playing a different kind of role.

As killers go Sean Bean played a good one. I mean he got straight to the point in the film, telling them that he was going to kill them. After this his role consisted more of sneering and delivering one-liners which were sometimes pretty funny, but his character could have been so much better. I don’t blame this on him as an actor though, it’s more the character in the film being underwritten.

The film seemed quite long to me (although it wasn’t), after 45 minutes I was wondering what they can fill another 45 minutes with, as a lot had happened and it could have finished at that point. But they managed it and with quite a graphic few scenes at the end too.

If you like horror films then you will like this. If not then it’s a hit or miss film, I thought it was okay although I don’t like them generally. I only watched it as I was made to by my girlfriend.
